Cho est une immigrée ordinaire, locataire d’un petit studio. Son quotidien est bouleversé par l’arrivée de Grégory, un pigeon qui parle et revendique son droit d’occuper son espace. Ce qui débute comme une dispute absurde sur la propriété privée devient progressivement une confrontation sur la légitimité et l’appartenance. Entre la locataire protégée et le « nuisible » errant, qui est réellement l’intrus dans cet espace urbain ?
Adoptant les codes de la sitcom et une esthétique hybride – mêlant animation 3D, 2D et décors en carton – Un voisin inattendu construit un monde délibérément artificiel. Cette image ludique agit comme un leurre : elle installe un confort comique pour mieux laisser place à la virulence des dialogues. Le film ne cherche pas à résoudre le conflit, mais à observer la circulation des rapports de pouvoir dans un espace ambigu où la solidarité s’efface devant l’instinct de survie.

Cho is an ordinary immigrant living in a small studio apartment. Her daily life is disrupted by the arrival of Grégory, a talking pigeon who claims his right to occupy her space. What begins as an absurd dispute over private property gradually turns into a confrontation over legitimacy and belonging. Between the protected tenant and the wandering “pest,” who is truly the intruder in this urban space?
Adopting the codes of the sitcom and a hybrid aesthetic combining 3D and 2D animation with cardboard sets, Un voisin inattendu constructs a deliberately artificial world. This playful imagery serves as a decoy, creating a sense of comic comfort before giving way to increasingly biting dialogue. The film does not seek to resolve the conflict, but rather to observe the shifting dynamics of power within an ambiguous space, where solidarity gives way to the instinct for survival.
